Religion: The Reason Teachers Get Paid So Little

Well, it seems religion is sort of at the root of the saying, "Those that can't do, teach." Also, in an indirect way, religion is the reason that teachers get paid so little. Originally, teachers got paid nothing because it was considered a "sin" for someone to charge people money to share knowledge, because all knowledge came from God supposedly. This has lasted over the years and is part of the cultural sub context that leads to our low pay as teachers.

Here's the article.

On a sidenote, when told this saying, I respond with Aristotle's quote that says, "Those that know, do. Those that understand, teach."
